OLD SCHOOL MANNERS
Recently had three children for the weekend.
ED ( 11 years ) was the oldest…B ( 9 years the medium ) and the caboose was EM ( 4 years )
Friday night they all spent the night here.
During the night, EM had a bed wetting incident and was soaked the next morning.
I insisted that EM must take a bath, with ED and B doing the bathing.
EM threw a tantrum and refused to cooperate in her bathing by ED and B.
EM squalled and screamed the entire 30 minutes of the bathing, much aggravating ED and B.
When the bathing was finally done and EM clothed in clean dry clothes, ED insisted that EM apologize to her and to me for being so bratty.
When EM first started a per functional apology while looking at her feet, ED stopped her immediately and demanded that EM look her and I in the eyes with the apology, which EM did.
I was very proud of ED… she applied the lessons I have been teaching them for years… handshake agreements, apologies and other important personal commitments must be done with full eye contact… old school, Christian and always appropriate.
ED taught EM a very important lesson and hopefully started EM on a path of good character development. God is interested in our character above all else. Our character is what will stand front and center before God on our judgement day
